A classically styled Bordeaux blend from the storied Santa Margarita Ranch—Cabernet Franc (70%), Cabernet Sauvignon (20%), Petit Verdot (5%) and Merlot (5%). Deep ruby with saturated purple edges anticipates aromas of raspberry crumble, pomegranate, vanilla bean, leather and cedar. The palate displays layered flavors of raspberry and strawberry with subtle spice notes and traces of cedar and light tobacco leaf, with suggestions of gentle earth and fine mineral. The finish is firm yet supple with fine tannins and balanced weight. Aged for 26 months in 40 percent new French oak barrels. Ultra-limited, only 219 cases produced.
Vintage Notes:
The 2021 growing season was a winemaker’s dream in Paso Robles. Cool spring conditions yielded to warm and steady summer temperatures, followed by moderate weather into harvest. Patience was required as the grapes reached full maturity, and the payoff was worth the wait: excellent fruit structure and beautifully balanced flavors. A true standout vintage for Paso Robles.
