Why Paso Robles
Serial began with a shared point of view.
For vintner John Anthony Truchard, it was a desire to explore beyond the boundaries of a single estate—to create something more expansive, more reflective of place.
For Executive Winemaker Jeff Kandarian, it was deeply personal. Paso Robles is where Jeff began his career—where he built lasting relationships with growers, walked vineyards year after year, and developed an instinct for the region that only comes with time.
Over decades, those relationships became the foundation. Growers turned into collaborators. Sites became stories.
Serial is the result of that shared vision—shaped by experience, trust, and a long-standing connection to Paso Robles.
The Series, Explained
Serial Wines is an evolving collection—a series of wines that explore the depth and diversity of Paso Robles.
Each release is marked with a number, its place within the sequence. Together, the wines form a progression: individual expressions that, over time, tell a broader story of the region.
Like a moth drawn to light, each wine is pulled toward something distinct—an origin, a site, a moment in time. The series follows that instinct, moving from one expression to the next, guided by curiosity and connection.
Some wines are focused and site-specific. Others are layered, built from multiple vineyards. Each one is a chapter—distinct, but connected.
The Approach
Rather than sourcing from a single estate, Serial looks outward.
John and Jeff work closely with a network of growers across Paso Robles—many of them long-time partners—selecting fruit from vineyards that offer something singular: a soil type, a microclimate, a point of view.
Jeff’s hands-on experience in the region brings precision to that process. His familiarity with the vineyards—and the people behind them—allows for decisions that are both intuitive and exacting, guided by vintage and by site.
Sourced Across Paso
Serial Wines draws from across Paso Robles, spanning its varied AVAs and microclimates.
At the center is Deseo Vineyard, our estate site, complemented by a small group of respected vineyard partners—each chosen for their character and potential.

These are not just sources—they are long-standing relationships. Many of these growers have worked alongside Jeff for years, contributing to a level of consistency and understanding that shapes every vintage.
